Maintaining a tufting machine is crucial to ensure its longevity and optimal performance. Here are the key steps for proper maintenance.
Tufting Machine Maintenance #
- Cleaning:
- Remove any yarn dust, lint, and debris from the machine after a tufting session, especially from the moving parts, the needle and scissors.
- Tip: Use a vacuum, compressed air or a paint brush to clean hard-to-reach areas.
- Lubrication:
- The metal bars in front of your tufting machine need to be wet. The metal bars where the white plastic chambers are sliding over, back and forth.
You can’t over-oil, so don’t hesitate to use plenty. Apply a few drops of oil to the metal bars located in front of and behind the white square bearings, as well as to the rotating bearings at the ends of the upper and lower machine bars. Turn on the machine to distribute the oil evenly. Continue adding oil as needed until the machine operates smoothly.
